What this finder cannot tell you.
A matching tool that hides its gaps is worse than no tool, because it converts uncertainty into false confidence. This is the list of things BecSpec does not know about cabinets.
The short version
BecSpec can tell you which registered cabinets fit inside a given space and hold a given temperature class. It cannot tell you that one will work in your site. Those are different questions, and only the first has data behind it.
Clearances are not recorded
This is the most consequential gap, because it directly undercuts the finder's main strength. The register states the cabinet's dimensions but not the space it needs around it. Condensers need airflow, and manufacturers specify minimum clearances at the back, sides and often above.
A cabinet that fits your opening exactly will usually not work in it. Take the clearance requirement from the manufacturer's installation documentation and add it to every figure BecSpec shows you.
Delivery access is not recorded
Cabinets that fit their final position regularly will not fit through the doorway, lift, stairwell or corridor on the way there. Nothing in the register describes the route, and it is a common and expensive discovery on delivery day. Measure the path, not just the destination.
Electrical supply is not recorded
No rated current, no phase, no plug configuration. Larger cabinets and remote systems frequently need more than a standard outlet, and the register will not tell you which.
Refrigerant is not recorded
Neither type nor charge. If you have a preference or an obligation around refrigerant choice — for regulatory, servicing or environmental reasons — the register cannot help and you will need the manufacturer's data.
Energy figures are test figures
Consumption is measured under test conditions at the cabinet's rated climate class. Real consumption depends on your room temperature and humidity, how often doors open, how warm product is when loaded, and how well the condenser is kept clean. Treat the annualised figure BecSpec derives as a comparison tool between cabinets, not a prediction of your bill.
Suspect expiry dates
Around 1,726 registrations in the current snapshot carry an expiry date beyond 2060, some over a century away. These are almost certainly data-entry artefacts. BecSpec does not correct them — correcting a source silently is its own kind of dishonesty — but it does flag the registration status as unconfirmed on those results.
Other gaps
- Net volume is stated on only about a fifth of registrations.
- Weight is not recorded, so floor loading cannot be assessed.
- Shelf configuration, door count and door type are not structured fields, though some appear inside the free-text description.
- Noise output is not recorded, which matters for cabinets going into customer-facing spaces.
Things no dataset can answer
- Whether your product load and turnover suit the cabinet's duty and defrost behaviour.
- Ambient conditions at the specific spot, which can differ sharply from the room average near doors, ovens or glazing.
- Servicing access and who will maintain it locally.
- Food safety obligations applying to what you store, which is your responsibility to establish.

BecSpec is a search and comparison tool over an open dataset. It does not assess whether a cabinet suits your application, and a result is not a recommendation. Confirm selection and installation with the manufacturer, the supplier, or a qualified refrigeration contractor.
