BecSpec Because specs matter.
HVAC controls · Method

Exact evidence first. Unknown stays unknown.

The checker is intentionally narrower than an installer manual or a brand-level compatibility claim.

Identity gate

The primary identity is the exact indoor-unit model. Where a source publishes compatibility for an indoor/outdoor pair, the outdoor model becomes a hard discriminator before the pathway is labelled confirmed.

Evidence states

Confirmed exact means the publisher explicitly lists the exact model or pair used for the result. Conditional means the indoor model is recognised but another documented discriminator is still required. Not established means BecSpec has no sufficiently exact published assertion in the bounded public cohort.

What never creates a match

Same brand, neighbouring model number, a shared communication protocol, similar terminals/connectors, controller appearance, apparent PCB similarity, installer anecdotes or forum reports do not generate compatibility edges.

Source independence

An OEM assertion and a third-party controller manufacturer's assertion are separate facts. Evidence for one does not automatically prove the other.

Why the public cohort is small

The underlying research bench is larger, but this release intentionally publishes only a compact set of factual compatibility assertions rather than recreating manufacturer compatibility tables. Expansion is gated by evidence quality, rights treatment and actual search demand.
