Where independent evidence has been reviewed, the result can also show mode-of-action context and Australian resistance findings — as separate evidence, never as an inferred recommendation.

Common questions

What the register and evidence layers can tell you

Is a generic the same as the original product?

Not automatically. Two products can carry the same active constituent at the same strength in the same formulation type and still differ in co-formulants and label directions. BecSpec can establish when the declared registration fields match; it does not turn that into an interchangeability claim.

Can the finder tell me the mode of action?

Sometimes, through separate reviewed enrichment. Herbicide, fungicide and insecticide MoA context is attached only where the relevant identity/evidence gate has cleared it. The alternative tier itself does not prove that two different chemistries have different modes of action, and the MoA overlay never changes the tier.

Does a resistance card mean the product will fail?

No. Resistance evidence is evidence about defined Australian populations, actives and targets under the cited study conditions. It is attached narrowly to exact current product/use contexts where the evidence join is safe. Missing evidence does not mean susceptibility, and an occurrence finding is not a paddock-level prediction.

Why does an alternative cover only part of my product's label?

Registration is granted use by use. Two products can have identical declared chemistry and both be approved for wheat and annual ryegrass while one is registered across many more host and target combinations. BecSpec therefore shows selected-use relevance and whole-label overlap as different questions.

Does this tell me who sells it, or what it costs?

No. PubCRIS records the company holding the registration, which is not necessarily the manufacturer and is never the reseller. There is no stockist, availability or price information in this dataset.

Why are glyphosate salts treated as different actives?

Because the APVMA registers the constituent forms separately. Glyphosate isopropylamine salt, potassium salt and mono-ammonium salt stay distinct in product matching, as do 2,4-D and MCPA esters. A separate reviewed evidence lookup may sometimes map a form to a parent concept for MoA or resistance evidence without rewriting the product's registered chemistry.
