Experimental tool — not approved for decision-making use. A screening aid only; it does not determine compliance, safety or exposure, and its coverage is incomplete.
It is not a compliance tool
The tool screens a regulatory change. It never states whether a workplace is compliant, whether an exposure is safe, or whether a concentration is below a limit. “No listed change identified” means only that no change to a listed limit was found for that substance.
An inventory is not the whole exposure picture
Many airborne contaminants — welding fume, respirable crystalline silica from cutting, diesel particulate, wood and flour dust, thermal decomposition products — are generated by work and never appear on a purchased-chemical inventory. The tool flags this class as process review required and asks you to acknowledge a checklist, but it cannot discover these from your file.
What it deliberately does not do
- No workplace compliance or safety verdicts.
- No exposure estimation or air-monitoring calculation.
- No SDS PDF parsing; identity comes from the fields you map.
- No fuzzy chemical identity promoted to a confident result.
- No fabricated one-to-one mapping across merged/split entry families.
- No reconstruction of a complex numeric delta by inference — it is shown as review-required instead.
Experimental status
This tool is published as an experimental screening aid and is not approved for decision-making use. It is deliberately shipped with over-the-top disclaimers and a mandatory pre-use acknowledgement rather than held back, because several matters are not settled:
- CAS is not required. CAS registry numbers are accepted only as optional matching evidence; every substance resolves by name, so the tool functions fully without any CAS licence or approval, and none of its output depends on CAS data.
- Jurisdiction is unverified. Safe Work Australia publishes model limits but is not the workplace regulator in your state or territory. Practical commencement has not been confirmed per jurisdiction — confirm it with the regulator that applies to you.
- Coverage is incomplete. Deterministic numeric deltas are materialised for a reviewed subset; complex delta cases remain review-required, and many substances are not yet represented. A substance the tool does not flag is not necessarily unaffected.
Treat results as a pointer to what a competent person should review against the source — never as an authoritative or relied-upon determination.
