Where the transformer data comes from
The public product population and the engineering evidence layer are kept deliberately separate.
Open product spine
The finder is built on the Australian Government GEMS distribution-transformer registration export published through data.gov.au. The dataset is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia, permitting commercial reuse and derivatives with attribution.
BecSpec preserves source fields and derives only transparent calculations such as MEPS/HPE thresholds, efficiency bands and QA flags.
Engineering evidence
Network standards, commissioning procedures and manufacturer documents were used to determine which fields actually matter to replacement decisions. Those documents are evidence sources, not part of the open GEMS dataset, and their content does not inherit the GEMS licence.
Where a source is not openly reusable, BecSpec does not republish its tables, drawings or catalogue text. Isolated technical facts may support verification logic with provenance, but the open downloadable/product layer remains the GEMS-derived population.
Snapshot
The current build target is the 9 August 2026 GEMS distribution-transformer snapshot supplied to the 035 workstream: 341 model records across 19 brands.
