A shortlist is not a network design approval, tender compliance certificate or installation drawing.
Missing replacement-critical fields
The public GEMS export does not completely provide vector group, impedance, tap range/steps, insulation level, cooling details, mounting interface, bushings, footprint, mass, clearances, no-load loss or load loss for the full registered population.
Network requirements vary
Australian distribution networks do not use one universal vector group, impedance or tap convention. Requirements can vary by network, voltage and region. Confirm the applicable network standard and the actual nameplate/type-test data before treating a candidate as compatible.
Efficiency is not compatibility
A more efficient transformer is not a better replacement if its electrical or physical interface is wrong. BecSpec therefore ranks by efficiency only after the filters you supplied have been satisfied.
Source anomalies are preserved
The GEMS snapshot contains a small number of values that conflict with other fields in the same registration. BecSpec flags suspicious values rather than silently correcting the regulator source.
Commissioning is outside the database
Phasing, earthing, tap selection, protection settings, no-load voltage and physical clearances still require site-specific engineering and commissioning checks.
