Fronius GEN24 battery not following its schedule?
GEN24 time-dependent battery control is flexible, but Fronius explicitly documents that several other control layers can influence the result.
1. Confirm you have GEN24 battery functionality
GEN24 Plus includes battery functions from purchase. A non-Plus GEN24 may require the Fronius UP.storage software upgrade before battery operation is enabled.
2. Check the weekday and time rule
Fronius lets users define charging and discharging rules by day of week and time. Confirm the active rule covers the day and time you are testing.
3. Check whether grid charging is allowed
Fronius documents tariff-dependent battery charging from the grid. If the objective is overnight charging, confirm the rule is configured for charging rather than merely reserving capacity.
4. Check minimum/maximum charge or discharge power
Time-dependent rules can specify minimum and maximum charging/discharging power. A restrictive power limit can make a schedule appear ineffective even when it is active.
5. Check reserve and higher-priority controls
Reserve settings can hold energy back. Fronius also notes that self-consumption optimisation, system power limits and Modbus/external controls can influence battery-management rules.
