SolarEdge battery not charging or discharging when expected?

Current Australian mySolarEdge material supports selectable battery modes and tariff-aware operation. Start by establishing which mode is actually active and whether the installed inverter/battery generation supports the behaviour you expect.

1. Check the active battery mode

SolarEdge's Australian mySolarEdge page says owners can choose the battery mode for their needs. A self-consumption mode and a tariff-aware mode are solving different problems, so a battery may be behaving correctly for the wrong objective.

2. Check tariff data and peak periods

SolarEdge describes automatic charging when electricity rates are low and shifting consumption using a smart algorithm based on consumption, peak rates and production forecasts. Wrong tariff windows can therefore look like a failed battery schedule.

3. Check reserve / backup intent

If energy is being held for backup, normal grid-connected discharge may stop earlier than expected. Storage behaviour and backup behaviour remain separate.

4. Check generation and firmware

SolarEdge's current firmware notes show that Australian Home Hub/Home Battery support and battery features are firmware-sensitive. Do not transfer current app behaviour to an older inverter generation without checking the exact model and firmware.

5. Stop before SetApp commissioning changes

If the homeowner app looks correct but behaviour remains wrong, installer-side energy-management, metering or commissioning settings may be involved. This guide does not instruct changes to those controls.
