A manufacturer-supported successor can still be unsuitable for a particular site if the existing pump, pipework, electrical arrangement, backflow protection or required duty differs from the documented configuration.
It does not diagnose the fault
A failed controller, pressure problem, dry-running pump, valve fault, float problem or electrical fault can produce overlapping symptoms. BecSpec does not infer which component has failed from symptoms.
It does not perform hydraulic sizing
The finder does not calculate required flow, pressure, elevation losses, pipe friction or fixture demand and does not declare a pump hydraulically suitable for a property.
It does not authorise plumbing or electrical work
Rain-to-mains systems can involve potable-water interconnection and backflow requirements. Electrical work and plumbing alterations must be handled in accordance with the applicable rules and by appropriately licensed people where required.
It does not turn a shared specification into compatibility
Matching current, power, thread size or pressure limits is not enough for BecSpec to publish a positive replacement claim. Positive claims require supporting manufacturer evidence.
Coverage is intentionally incomplete
The draft starts with a small high-confidence legacy spine. If a model is absent, that means no reviewed record is currently available — not that no replacement exists.
