In an IEC designation such as 132M, the number is the shaft centre height H in millimetres and the letter is the frame length. Shaft diameter D and length are not recorded in the registration data and must be confirmed separately.

What is a 132M frame motor?

132M is an IEC frame designation. The number — 132 — is the shaft centre height in millimetres, measured from the base of the feet to the middle of the shaft. The letter M is the frame length: a 132M motor is longer than a 132S of the same centre height and shorter than a 132L. Because IEC frame sizes are standardised, a 132M motor from one manufacturer bolts up the same way as a 132M motor from another.

What is a 132S frame motor?

132S shares the same 132 mm shaft centre height as the 132M and 132L frames, but is the shortest of the three — a shorter overall length and closer-set foot mounting holes. It's common on lower-power motors within the 132 frame range.

How do I replace a 5.5 kW three-phase motor?

Start with rated power, pole count and voltage from the nameplate to narrow candidates with the same main electrical and speed characteristics. Then match the IEC frame designation and mounting code, commonly B3 for a foot-mounted motor, to narrow candidates with the same registered mechanical arrangement. Shaft dimensions, duty, starting requirements, terminal box position and other application-specific details still need to be checked separately; they're not all in the register BecSpec matches against.

What does B3 mounting mean?

B3 is the IEC code for a foot-mounted motor, bolted down through feet on its base — the most common arrangement. B5 and B14 are flange-mounted variants with no feet; B35 has both a flange and feet.
